Comparison

"We already have DragonFly,
and it's free."

Good. Keep it. DragonFly MAX runs the athletic department: registration, eligibility, physicals on file, officials, payments, schedules. Strata runs athletic medicine and performance, which is everything that happens to an athlete after DragonFly says they are eligible. A school is not choosing between them, and Strata reads a DragonFly export on day one.

Where DragonFly is genuinely good

Paperless registration and e-signatures, an eligibility checklist that pulls academics, physicals and forms in one place, officials assigning and digital payments, game contracts, team fees, a public schedule site, parent messaging. It is free to the school, and several state associations run on it. For that job it is the right tool.

Where the line falls

DragonFly tells you a kid is eligible to play. Strata tells you whether he should practice today. The injury record, the concussion protocol, the rehab, the return-to-play decision, the training load, the fuel plan and the daily wellness check-in all live on the Strata side of the line. DragonFly's injury report is a form. Strata's is a record that changes what happens next.

What "free" covers

DragonFly is free because the state association or the officials-payment side funds it, and it is very good at the administrative work that funding is for. It was never built to be an Athletic Trainer's record, a weight-room platform, or a nutrition and wellness system. Nobody is asking it to be. That is the part Strata is for, and it is the part that keeps athletes safe and on the field.

Row by row.

Two columns, two different jobs. The rows where DragonFly wins are rows Strata does not compete in, on purpose.

When the Athletic Director says it

"Keep DragonFly. It runs your department and it does that well. DragonFly tells you a kid is eligible. Strata tells you whether he should practice today. Your Athletic Trainer's record, your weight room, your athletes' fuel and sleep and training load, none of that lives in DragonFly, and it was never meant to. Export your athletes from DragonFly, drop the file into Strata, and both systems are working by the end of the meeting."

Day one, from DragonFly to Strata.

1. Export your athletes

From DragonFly, export your athletes with parents, emergency contacts and physical status. A spreadsheet is all it is.

2. Drop the file in

Strata recognizes the DragonFly MAX export on sight. Names, grad years, parents, emergency contacts and physical clearance dates come across. Nobody is invented, and nothing in DragonFly changes.

3. Keep both

Registration and eligibility stay in DragonFly. Injuries, concussions, strength, nutrition, wellness and weather safety run in Strata. Each August, re-export and re-import; existing athletes update in place.

The practical test.

Open DragonFly and ask it what an athlete's training load was the two weeks before his hamstring went. Ask what his fuel plan should be while he rehabs. Ask which day of the concussion protocol he is on. Those are not features DragonFly is missing. They are data it does not have, because it runs the department, not the athlete.
